About
Blenheim Stud has been an equine property for over 30 years. Started in 1984 by Frank Lehane, a licenced National Hunt trainer, Blenheim Stud was a successful racing and breeding yard. Care of the property was taken over by his daughter, Anna, in 2012, who has converted the property from National Hunt Racing to a more general equine facility.
Blenheim Stud is situated on 23 acres overlooking the river Suir at Kings Channel. We aim to cater for equestrians who are looking to enjoy their horses in a relaxed, scenic, and more intimate facility. Conveniently situated within four miles of Waterford City, we are a 15-minute drive from Woodstown Beach, with access to quiet country roads for hacking. We also host training and clinic events from visiting international trainers and horsemen as an additional service.
Stables on offer are situated within an airy and newly-built timber American Style barn offering warm, comfortable, bright, and dry access to horses, regardless of the weather outside. All stalls are rubber matted and equipped with automatic water feeders.
We are equine wellbeing focused and provide a happy and stress free accommodation that has always made for happy horses. As well as having the owner on site, the barn is monitored 24/7 by CCTV and the entire premises is protected by electronic gates. What makes Blenheim Stud unique is that it is a leisure-horse-focused livery yard. Unlike other livery facilities within Waterford, we are neither a strictly commercial competition yard nor a pony riding school. Our focus is on providing a family-like atmosphere, with personable and quality service at the heart of our business.
Location
As a location, Blenheim Stud is ideally situated within the fringes of Waterford City, just off the Dunmore Road, a 15-minute drive to the horse friendly Woodstown Beach or a one-hour hack along quiet country roads. The stud is within the boundaries of the Woodstown Harriers Hunt, and so for members of the hunt, housing your horse at Blenheim Stud means you are always within hacking distance from any of their ‘setting out’ locations.
Why Choose Blenheim
At Blenheim, our focus is on making happy horses. Year round turnout, regular exercise and a relaxed atmosphere has helped produce settled and willing to work horses, as well as happy riders!
Blenheim Stud hosts a number of special training events throughout the year, including Side Saddle and Western Horsemanship Clinics with world class Equestrians. We also offer classes in equine massage. In-house services available include horse clipping and show grooming as well as horse transport rental and horse sale preparation and Short-Term stabling.
We also offer one to one Bespoke Equestrian Training with BHSII professional trainer Tara Sweeny. Tara tailors all her bespoke lessons to the particular needs and goals of the rider; coaching with a positive, patient & encouraging manner. Allowing the student to not only learn, but improve and enjoy each session while gaining confidence and enjoyment for the sport.
In addition to Livery services, Blenheim Stud has a small tillage farming operation, cutting and baling high quality equine hay in both square and round bales. A small equestrian shop is situated on-site to supply livery customers with all their day-to-day necessities such as wormers, feed supplements, grooming products, halters and leads, as well as basic veterinary items such as bandages and lotions for cuts and gashes.
